Weight in Motion (WIM) is designed to capture and record axle weights and gross vehicle weights as vehicles drive over a measurement site. Unlike Static Scales, WIM systems are capable of measuring vehicles travelling at a reduced or normal traffic speed and do not require the vehicle to com to a complete stop. This makes the weighing process more efficient. WIM can also be applied as a pre-screening device to capture and record weight. This later acts as a measure to guide the vehicle to an existing static station in countries where the laws enforce a static weighing record as proof of evidence
